Dairying is an important source of income for millions of rural families and has an assumed an important tool for income generating opportunity for the weaker section of our country. Indian dairy co-operative movement with Amul model became a shining example of success due to wisdom & toil of our farmers, visionary leadership of late Dr. Verghese Kurien & tremendous support given by union & state Governments.

Our commitment to the producer and our contract with the consumer is the reasons we are confident that cooperative brands, like Amul, will have an even bigger role to play in the next coming years. Resources need to be deployed with a purpose and a commitment to deliver better results. We acknowledge and appreciate the tremendous faith & trust that farmers and consumers. We should not focus only on increasing milk procurement but the clean milk production, scientific breeding and feeding & animal health improvement to increase productivity of milk animals, fodder development. I opted to remain an employee of farmers all my life. I did it because I realized that had a job which gave me the greatest pleasure, the greatest satisfaction. The idea of working for a large number of farmers translated itself into concept of working for social good. I realized that money is not the only satisfaction that one can seek, that there are several other forms of satisfaction and all of these were available to me as a part of this milk union.
